Gift Vouchers printed today

Printed gift vouchers can help shops, restaurants, salons and other businesses generate advance sales and encourage repeat visits. A good voucher should look professional, be easy to complete and clearly explain how it can be used.

What should a gift voucher include?

Keep the layout simple and leave enough room for any information that will be added by hand. Most vouchers include:

  • Business name, logo and contact details
  • Voucher value or service provided
  • Recipient’s name
  • Purchaser’s name
  • Date issued and expiry date
  • Unique voucher number
  • Terms and conditions
  • Authorised signature or stamp

Keep the terms brief but clear. You may need to state whether the voucher can be exchanged for cash, used alongside other offers or redeemed in more than one transaction. Avoid placing important information in very small text.

Choosing the size and card

A6 and DL are popular sizes because they provide enough room for the voucher details while fitting easily inside an envelope. A7 works well for compact vouchers, while A5 provides more space for photographs, presentation or detailed terms.  Choose uncoated card if names, values or dates will be written onto the voucher, as pens absorb into the surface without smudging. Silk card has a smoother finish and is better suited to photographs, strong colours and detailed branding.

Our custom gift vouchers are available on a choice of paper and card thicknesses, with optional envelopes and rounded corners.

Should gift vouchers be numbered?

Sequential numbering gives each voucher a unique reference, making it easier to record when it was sold and redeemed. It can also help identify duplicated or altered vouchers.  When ordering numbered vouchers, tell us the starting number and where you would like it positioned. Keep a separate record of each number, its value, issue date and redemption status.

Preparing the artwork

A press-quality PDF is the preferred file format. Include 3mm bleed if colours or images reach the edge, and keep important text and logos at least 4mm inside the trimmed edge.  Before approving the artwork, check:

  • Prices, values and expiry wording
  • Contact details and website addresses
  • Space available for handwriting
  • Terms and conditions
  • The starting number and its position
  • Whether envelopes are required

We check the supplied file and email a PDF proof before printing. Our Artwork Guide explains how to prepare files using Canva, Adobe and Microsoft Office.
