We regularly print exam booklets for schools, colleges, tuition centres and private tutors, including multiple subjects and mixed quantities. Our recently upgraded booklet-making equipment folds and saddle stitches each booklet for a neat, consistent finish. Choose black and white throughout or add a colour cover with black and white inside pages. We check every file for print suitability and email a PDF proof for approval before printing.

We'll need to have a file that is ready to print, saved as individual pages in reading order (not booklet layout).
The number of pages is how many 'sides' there are in the finished booklet, and should match the number of pages in your PDF. It always needs to be divisible by 4, but we can add blank pages to make up the difference.
After checkout, you'll be prompted to upload your file, and you'll be able to write any special instructions to us there.
We don't print anything automatically. We'll check your order, make sure we understand it, and email you a PDF proof for you to approve first. This will show the final layout as it would print, and allows you to check for any mistakes.
Once you approve your PDF proof, we'll get started and email you once we've finished.
File Types
- Please send us PDFs, as they are the best file type to print from. If you have a choice of settings, 'press quality' or 'PDF/X-4' is good.
- We also accept Microsoft Word, and we can resize your file for you.
We'll always check your file send you a PDF proof to approve before printing.
Specifications
- A4 Booklets are printed on A3, folded in half, stapled twice down the fold (saddle stitched), and trimmed.
- A5 booklets are printed on A4 and folded in half, stapled twice down the fold (saddle stitched), and trimmed.
- Orientation: We only print portrait booklets, not landscape
- Margins: Black & white booklets are not printed edge to edge, there will be a 6mm unprinted margin around each edge
- Uncoated paper has plain natural 'paper' finish. It has more of a texture compared to silk, and is good for writing on.
- Coated Silk paper is smooth and white, with a slight shine to it. It's the most popular choice for colour printing, and the quality is excellent.
VAT
Booklets are generally zero rated except in cases where they are to be written in (forms or stationery). If this is the case then we have to charge VAT, and we'll contact you. For more information on VAT on printing, please see the HMRC website
