A guide to creating place name cards

Whether you are planning a wedding, party, corporate event or gala dinner, personalised place name cards add a polished finishing touch to your tables and help guests find their seats easily.

How to Order Place Name Cards

1. Choose Your Card Size and Material

Our standard place cards measure 90 × 90mm and are creased in half so they stand securely when folded. We also offer a larger 105 × 120mm option.  Choose from:

• 350gsm Silk Card: A thick, smooth card with a subtle sheen, ideal for vibrant colours and detailed designs.
• 350gsm Uncoated Card: A natural, matt card with a classic and elegant finish.

2. Supply Your Names and Design

You can provide your artwork in one of two ways:

• Name List: Send us an Excel spreadsheet with first names and surnames in separate columns, together with a template or a description of the style you would like.
• Print-Ready PDF: Supply one name per page at the correct size, including 3mm bleed. A 90 × 90mm card requires a 96 × 96mm PDF, while a 105 × 120mm card requires a 111 × 126mm PDF.

Canva is an easy option if you would like to create the design yourself.

3. Order Online

Choose the total number of cards required, select your preferred options and add the order to your basket. You will be able to upload your files and include any special instructions during checkout.

4. Approve Your PDF Proof

We do not print orders automatically. We will check your files and email you a PDF proof showing how the finished cards will look.  Please check all names, spelling and layout carefully. We will only begin printing once you have approved the proof.

5. Printing and Delivery

Your place cards will be printed in high-quality full colour, even if the design only contains black and white. We use FSC-certified card from mixed and renewable sources.  Delivery usually takes one working day after production, although this may vary depending on your location within the UK.

Artwork Requirements

Preferred format: A press-quality PDF with crop marks and 3mm bleed. Here is our guide to supplying artwork.

For personalised PDF files, please supply one name per page. For example, an order for 200 place cards should contain a 200-page PDF.

Final Checks

Please make sure every name is spelt correctly and formatted consistently, including the use of capital letters.  There is no need to include a folding line in your artwork, as we will crease the cards correctly during production.
