Plan Printing: A0, A1, A2, A3 Drawings
Need architectural drawings, construction plans or CAD drawings printed quickly? Ordering plan prints online is straightforward, but it is important to choose the correct size, colour option and file format. We print A0, A1, A2 and A3 drawings on 80gsm white paper, with machine folding to A4 included. Orders can be delivered across the UK or collected from our print shop in West Drayton.
What size are your drawings?
Most technical drawings are supplied in one of four standard sizes:
- A0: 841 × 1189mm
- A1: 594 × 841mm
- A2: 420 × 594mm
- A3: 297 × 420mm
The intended size is often shown in the drawing’s title block, together with its scale—for example, 1:100 at A1. You can also check the page size of a PDF in Adobe Acrobat by selecting File > Properties > Description.
We normally print drawings at the page size saved within the PDF. Please tell us before printing if you need a drawing enlarged or reduced. Changing the print size will also change its scale unless the drawing is marked NTS, meaning not to scale.
Should plans be printed in colour or black and white?
Choose black-and-white printing when your drawing contains only black lines, text and shading. Choose colour when colours are used to identify important services, revisions, boundaries or other information. Pale blue, yellow and similar colours can become very faint when converted to greyscale. Standard plan printing is intended for technical line drawings. Files containing photographs, detailed renderings, satellite images or large solid backgrounds may need to be printed using a different setting.
What file format should you supply?
PDF is the preferred format because it is more likely to retain the correct page size, fonts, line weights and layout. Please supply individual PDF pages at their intended finished size. There is no need to arrange the drawings onto larger sheets or add your own folding marks. DWG and DXF files can display differently on different computers due to missing fonts, line styles or external references. Please email these files for a quotation rather than ordering them as standard PDFs. After placing your order, you can upload your files and include instructions about quantities, sizing or delivery. Larger batches can also be sent using our file-transfer page. We check that the supplied page sizes and order details make sense before printing and will contact you if something appears unclear. We do not check the technical content or accuracy of the drawings.
Folding, turnaround and delivery
A0, A1, A2 and A3 plans printed on standard 80gsm paper can be machine-folded to approximately A4. This makes them easier to file, post, carry and use on site. Same-day production is available for many print-ready orders. Next-working-day UK delivery is available through tracked couriers, with delivery direct to your office, construction site, client or subcontractor. For urgent same-day collection or delivery within London, email your PDF files, quantities, delivery address and deadline before ordering. We can then confirm what is possible and provide a courier quotation.
Waterproof plastic paper and laminated plans are also available for drawings that will be handled repeatedly or used in wet site conditions.
